Thank you for your interest in becoming an on-call babysitter.  Once approved, which should be within 24hrs if you have no criminal convictions, and your references check out, you are available to babysit for vacationers!  Keep in mind, there is an agency fee and this is NOT a full time job. 

All sitters scheduled for child care MUST have training and experience caring for children and training in English speaking, reading and writing. 

Each individual sitter will be subject to an in-depth background check before they can be dispatched for any Sunshine Babysitting client.

Sitters will be hired based on their ability to read and follow instructions (starting with this application), education and/or training in the care of childcare, and have demonstrated experience in either a formalized child care setting (in-home or daycare), school, nanny experience, summer camp or a pediatric program. Applicable education backgrounds for working with children could include Associates or Bachelor’s Degrees in Early Childhood Education, Child Psychology, Child Development, Social Work or Teaching. Those with Nursing, Certified Nursing Assistant, Home Health Aid or equivalent degrees or certifications are also acceptable for this age group.

Sitters must meet the following additional criteria:

  • Read and Speak English

  • Follow Instructions

  • Age Requirement (insurance reasons): Be at least 18 years of age;

  • Background Check: have NO criminal convictions of any kind;

  • Allergies: since you will be working with infants and children with allergies: must not smoke cigarettes, chew tobacco or wear perfume;

  • Transportation: although you will not provide transportation, applicants must have their own reliable personal transportation (not shared) and a valid drivers license;

  • Appearance: NO visible tattoos, gold teeth, nose, tongue or eyebrow rings or unnatural colored hair. You will be required to adhere to a strict dress code.
